Dave Dodds was a Johannesburg dentist. He was also an extremely accomplished climber and photographer. He and his wife Margaret were family friends, and when Dave heard we would be spending the Easter 1961 holidays at Loteni, he suggested to my father that my brother, Stuart, and I could meet him near the Cathedral Peak hotel and then join him and a few of his friends on a quick trip to Cleft Peak.
