Climbing Eagle Mountain


Thirty-five minutes after we started hiking, we entered the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW), which covers more than a million acres / 400,000 hectares in north-eastern Minnesota. As the US Forest Service’s website notes, “the BWCAW contains over 1,200 miles of canoe routes, 12 hiking trails and over 2,000 designated campsites.”
