Climbing Harney Peak

The statement on this plaque at the base of the Harney Peak watchtower isn’t quite correct. Mt Teide in the Canary Islands lies between the Rockies and the Pyrenees. Its summit is 3,718-metres / 12,198 feet above sea-level, which is not only higher than Harney Peak, but is also higher than the highest mountain in the Pyrenees (which is Aneto Peak – 3,404 metres / 11,168 feet).
