 I couldn’t resist taking this picture of John and me posing together for our Hawkeye Point summit shot as the faces of the farmer and his daughter in Grant Wood’s iconic 20th century painting, American Gothic, and thus providing yet another instance of the painting being “widely parodied within American popular culture.” The house in the original painting was in Eldon, Iowa (which is in the south-eastern corner of the state). |
