Climbing Humphreys PeakPrevious | Thumbnails | Next |
On Monday, 9 July 2012, the day after Eric Hodge and I successfully climbed Wheeler Peak, the highest mountain in New Mexico, we set off from Albuquerque and drove west along US interstate highway 40 to Arizona. When we arrived in the state shortly before 1:00 pm, it was the first time that either of us had set foot in Arizona (which, incidentally, a hundred years earlier had been the last of the contiguous 48 states to be admitted to the union). Arriving in Arizona meant that I have now been to all 11 western states in the USA. |
