 Friday, 18 October 1991 – Based at Gokyo: The attempt by the hot-air balloon team to be the first in the world to fly over the summit of Mt Everest was ultimately successful (but not while we were in Gokyo: it occurred the day after we left Gokyo). This is a photograph I took of the cover of Ballooning Over Everest, by Leo Dickinson, who was one of the four people that successfully flew the expedition’s two hot-air balloons over the world’s highest mountain.
