An attempt on Lobuje East, 1991 |
 Friday, 25 October 1991 – From our Lobuje East base camp to Dingboche: George Curry fell and was killed on the first day of a winter attempt on Pumori by a joint American and Australian climbing team. He was only about 400 metres above base camp when the accident occurred, and – as a result – the expedition was called off. |
