Thursday, 31 October 1991 – Bhaktapur: The day after we returned to Kathmandu from the Khumbu, we visited Bhaktapur. It’s often regarded as the best of the three medieval cities in the Kathmandu valley, and the jewel in Bhaktapur’s crown is probably the Nyatapola temple. When it was dedicated to the Goddess Laksmi, Queen of Water, more than two hundred years ago, its doors were sealed, never to be opened again. What’s inside the temple is a mystery.
