The Milford Track |
 On Saturday morning, 6 April 1996, we were not allowed to leave Mintaro and head on up the Mackinnon Pass until Arne Ericson had been up it first to check on potential avalanche dangers and ascertain whether it was safe to cross the pass. As a result, instead of leaving the hut in dribs and drabs, everyone hung around waiting. Here is a picture of more than a quarter of the people in our 4-7 April 1996 Milford Track cohort waiting to be given the go ahead to leave Mintaro Hut. |
