An attempt on Mt Marcy, NY

I also visited the Franklin D. Roosevelt presidential library and museum at Hyde Park (on the eastern side of the Hudson river). FDR was the United States’ longest serving president. He was elected four times, and was president from 4 March 1933 until his death on 12 April 1945. As president, FDR was also the US Commander-in-Chief, and one of his Second World War generals was Douglas MacArthur, who – when he left the Philippines in 1942 after the Japanese invasion – famously said, “I shall return.” Let me stress that after my unsuccessful 2016 attempt on Mt Marcy, I shall return. (This is the last picture in this album.) |
