 While I was in Damascus, I saw this book laying claim to the fact that Damascus is the “friendliest town on the [Appalachian] Trail”. While I cannot say with certainty that Damascus is the friendliest town on the trail, I can say that it’s a pleasant and attractive small town – a far cry from the tackiness and tastelessness of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which is where I’d just come from. |
