Portuguese Caminos de Santiago |
 Day 1 (Wednesday, 27 September 2017) – Porto (Matosinhos) to Vila do Conde (18.9 kilometres / 11.7 miles): Municipal elections were held throughout Portugal on Sunday, 1 October 2017, and the country was awash with election billboards and hoardings. I particularly liked this one because it gives a reasonably clear indication of what the ballot papers looked like. (Incidentally, Wikipedia later reported that the party featured on this billboard, “the Socialist Party [PS] was the big winner of the elections, consolidating their position as the largest local party in Portugal.”) |
