Climbing Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa

We left the Gwesty Bodlondeb Hotel after breakfast on Friday morning, 11 September 2015, and set off for Pen-y-Pass, which is on the eastern flanks of Snowdon and is only about 32 kilometres / 20 miles from Criccieth. However, when we reached Beddgelert, a village with only about 500 inhabitants, roughly half-way between Criccieth and Pen-y-Pass, we thought we might possibly be able to go no further: this large truck was firmly wedged against the walls on both sides of an old stone bridge over the River Colwyn. Fortunately, a more experienced truck driver volunteered to help the Sierra truck’s hapless driver, and after about twenty minutes the blockage was cleared.
