Climbing Snowdon / Yr Wyddfa

… Llyn Glaslyn (which is also known as Blue Lake). It is a classic example of a glacial lake above a hanging valley (namely, the valley we had just climbed up after leaving the shores of Llyn Llydaw). The steepest section of the Miners’ Track up Snowdon is the headwall in the middle of the picture. The climb up the headwall starts directly above Heather’s head and then angles left and up towards the lowest point on the horizon, which is called Bwich Glas and is on the ridge separating Snowdon and Garnedd Ugain (the second-highest peak in Wales, the summit of which is only 20 metres / 66 feet lower than the top of Snowdon).
