 JOHANNESBURG: A week or so before my informal visit to some of Johannesburg’s gold mines in order to take black-and-white and colour photographs, I’d been on an official tour of a gold mine, which was how I was able to see and take this photograph of a crucible of smelted gold being taken out of a furnace. The melting temperature of gold is over a thousand degrees Celsius / almost two thousand degrees Fahrenheit. |
