Thirteen Formative Years: Living in South Africa from 1949 until 1962

I was born in Britain in April 1944, but – together with my parents and an older and a younger brother – emigrated to South Africa in January 1949, and stayed there, living in Johannesburg, until August 1962. They were, as the title of this web-album indicates, thirteen crucial years: what I did and what I learnt while growing up in South Africa inevitably and indelibly shaped many aspects of my life.

This web-album has been made predominantly by digitising a large number of photographs that my father and I took in Africa. Click on these 'thumbnail' pictures to see larger versions of them, as well as captions for the photographs.
