 HOLIDAYS – Three hitchhiking holidays: During the 13 years that I lived in South Africa, I went on three major hitchhiking holidays. The first – and greatest – of them lasted from 11 December 1959 to 3 January 1960, when I hitchhiked 5,796 miles / 9,328 kilometres from Johannesburg to Mt Kilimanjaro and back. |
