 LEAVING SOUTH AFRICA – American Field Service (AFS): In September 2019 I was exceptionally fortunate to be able to visit Isobel Dick – now Isobel Buekes. She had married Pete, an Anglican minister, and the two of them had worked together in a variety of isolated and challenging parishes. They are now retired and live in a small house (the first one they’ve ever owned) on the outskirts of Pretoria, where they work daily miracles coaxing flowers, vegetables, and fruit from Africa’s tough red earth. |
