EDUCATION – St Stithians College: … the Mountstephens boarding house. I spent three years in it; Stuart spent three-and-a-half years in it; and my youngest brother, Charlie, spent three months in it while our parents were overseas in 1960. In line with English public school (which, perversely, means English private school) practices, I was classified as Roberts major at St Stithians, while Stuart was Roberts minor. Not too surprisingly, Charlie was quickly nicknamed Roberts mini-minor during his time as a boarder in Mountstephens. |
