 EDUCATION – Parktown Boys’ High School: When I went to Parktown Boys’ High more than 60 years ago, the school colours were black and red – and they still are. Boys with striped blazers (like the one on the left) had been awarded “colours” for their sporting prowess. I certainly didn’t have a striped blazer. Indeed, as far as I can recall, my Parktown Boys’ blazer didn’t even have a red strip round the edges (like the blazers of the boys on the right in this photograph from the school’s website): I’m pretty sure my lowly blazer was plain black. |
