EDUCATION – Saxonwold Primary School: This is an extract from a letter that I received from Jerrold Kessel in 1978. Jerrold was one of many Jewish classmates of mine at Saxonwold. He left South Africa as soon as he finished high school and migrated to Israel, where he later became very well known as CNN’s correspondent in Jerusalem. In this letter, Jerrold recalled two things in particular about the time when we were pupils at Saxonwold: (1) was my “love of milk and [my] ability to down 7-8 bottles … at first break”; and (2) that I was “destined to become a game ranger.
