HOLIDAYS – Eastern Transvaal: Another photograph by Bobby Roberts of the Blyde River Canyon. A decade or so after we left South Africa, the river was dammed and there’s now a sizable lake at the bottom of the canyon. It’s said that the Blyde River Canyon is the third-largest canyon in the world; when we went there in the early 1960s, however, the tourist potential of the canyon was almost wholly undeveloped. |
