 EDUCATION – St Stithians College: … almost 37 years later. When I was visiting Neville Richardson in Pietermaritzburg (where he taught at the University of Natal), Neville said to me, “Hudson-Reed is now retired and living in Pietermaritzburg. Let’s pop round and see him.” When we arrived at Derek Hudson-Reed’s house, Neville said to him, “I’ve brought someone to see you. Do you know who it is?” Mr Hudson-Reed looked at me carefully, thought for a while, and then said, “Roberts.” What an amazing memory. By contrast, I was sometimes hard put to recall the names of students I’d taught only a year or so previously! |
