 HOLIDAYS – Game reserves: Bobby took this photograph of hippo in the Limpopo river when he and Lilian took a visiting American anaesthetist, Emery Rovenstine, and his wife, Pearl, to the Kruger National Park in August 1953. In order to be able to walk down to the river’s edge, hippo pools were the one place (other than rest camps) where you were allowed to get out of your car when you were in the Kruger Park. |
