Lake Waikaremoana Track |
 Heather setting off on Thursday, 24 December 1987, our second day on the track. Lake Waikaremoana is fairly young. It’s only about was 2,200 years ago old, and was created when a massive landslip blocked a gorge on the Waikaretaheke river. The surface of the lake is 579 metres / 1,900 feet above sea-level. |
