It was by far the busiest of the huts, because a lot people had started to hike the Lake Waikaremoana Track the day after Christmas and – what is more – because most people “do” the track in the opposite direction to the way we were hiking it, they arrived at their first hut on Saturday afternoon, 26 December, just as we were arriving at it on our last full day on the track. |
