On Tuesday afternoon, 14 May 2013, Eric and I met at the Uluru / Ayers Rock airport. We collected our hire car, checked into our hotel, and then spent two days’ sightseeing in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a photograph of the western face of Uluru / Ayers Rock at sunset. Uluru is huge. The sandstone monolith’s circumference is more than 9 kilometres (or nearly six miles) long, and the top of the rock is almost 350 metres / 1,150 feet above the surrounding red sand plains. |
