Abel Tasman Coast Track |
 In late 1982, Heather, Evan, and I decided we’d hike the Abel Tasman Coast Track. As we hadn’t taken Evan on a multi-day hike before, we thought we’d better have a trial run. As a result, on 27 December 1982, we walked from the road end in the Rimutaka Forest Park to the Orongorongo river, and camped overnight in the river valley. Evan carried a pack with his sleeping bag and spare clothes. The trip was a great success: Evan thoroughly enjoyed it and, as a result, we were all looking forward to tackling the Abel Tasman Coast Track. |
