Abel Tasman Coast Track |
 On Saturday, 15 January 1983 – a week after Evan’s eighth birthday – we caught a Cook Strait ferry from Wellington to Picton, and then drove to Nelson (which is marked with a purple star on this map). The following day, we drove to Marahau and began walking the Abel Tasman Coast Track (and Mike Prebble took our car back to Nelson). We finished our hike at Totaranui on Friday, 21 January 1983, and then spent three nights with Dallas and Graeme Wilson on their farm at Puramahoi (which is also marked by a purple star), followed by three nights in Nelson with the Prebble family. On Thursday, 27 January, we drove to Moetapu Bay (also marked by a purple star), and spent three nights there with Burn, Margaret, Bobbi, and Donal Hockey prior to returning to Wellington on Sunday evening, 30 January 1983. |
