After we’d climbed Mt Aylmer, Gerry and I made our way back to Kelman Hut. The weather forecast was not promising, so Gerry made a quick, but extremely well-judged, decision to leave the hut and fly south, where if needs be we’d be able to get out of the mountains under our own steam. As a result, we said a quick hello and an ever quicker goodbye to two people who’d arrived at the hut while we were climbing Aylmer – namely, mountain guide Charlie Hobbs (who’s on the left in this picture) and a young client of his. Sadly, to date, I’ve never been back to the Tasman Saddle area. (This is the last picture in this album.) |
