Day 34 (18 October 1969) – PODEBRADY: When we were in Copenhagen, we’d met two Czechoslovakian medical students, Ivan Julis and his fiancée, Dana. They invited us to stay with them in Prague, which is what we did. On our first full day in Czechoslovakia, Heather and I drove Ivan and Dana to Chrudim, a town east of Prague, so that they could visit Ivan’s grandmother. On our way to Chrudim, we stopped to sample mineral water from a spring in Podebrady, a small spa town roughly 60 kilometres east of Prague. This is a photo of Heather (dressed in red in the centre of the picture) and our Czech hosts Ivan (second from the left) and Dana (second from the right) queuing up at the spring. |
