Climbing Guadalupe Peak, Texas

It was very dark most of the time I drove east on US federal highway 62/180. Roughly 45 minutes after I left El Paso, I drove into a large shed-like structure in which all vehicles were required to stop. I thought it was an agricultural inspection station (like one I’d encountered on the Nevada-California border near Truckee) – but no, it was an immigration check-point. Because I’m not an American citizen, I had to produce my passport and explain what I was doing and how long I would be staying in the United States. |
