Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
 I got to the Horombo huts at 2:40 pm – the return hike had taken me only two and a half hours, exactly half the time I’d taken to walk in the opposite direction. We had lunch at 3:00 pm and dinner at 5:30 pm. In the early evening, before we went to bed at 7:00 pm, the clouds to the south of Mt Kilimanjaro were tinged with a pleasant purple glow. |
