Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
At 8:30 am on Thursday, 12 December 1985, I reached the 5,895-metre / 19,340-foot summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. As a result – 26 years after my initial attempt to climb it – Mt Kilimanjaro became the first of the five of the Seven Summits that I’ve climbed. |
