Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
 We reached the Kilimanjaro National Park headquarters at the Marangu Gate at 1:15 pm – two hours after leaving the Mandara huts, and we were presented with certificates showing we had “successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro”. Of our party of ten, seven of us had reached Gillman’s Point on Kibo’s crater rim, and five of the seven of us had successfully ascended Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mt Kilimanjaro. |
