Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
 On Saturday night, 7 December, and Sunday morning, 8 December 1985, I flew from Vienna via Khartoum (where there was a sign in the airport saying “No alcohol; no photography”) to Kilimanjaro International Airport at Arusha in northern Tanzania. As these clear and simple maps in John Reader’s excellent book, Kilimanjaro, show, Mt Kilimanjaro is close to Tanzania’s northern border with Kenya. |
