 Horombo is, as this sign notes, 3,780 metres above sea-level. I particularly like the height in feet, because generations of New Zealanders were taught that the height of their highest mountain, Mt Cook, was 12,349 feet above sea-level. Two pleasant half-days’ hiking had got me to the equivalent of the top of Mt Cook! |
