Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, 1985 |
 At 1:23 am on Thursday, 12 December 1985, the remaining eight of us set off, heading initially for Gillman’s Point on Kibo’s crater rim. It had started snowing around the time we went to bed, so the scree and rocks were covered with a light coating of snow. The first time we stopped, I took this picture of Simone and an assistant guide (who, in addition to holding a torch / flashlight, is also holding my gloves, which I had to take off in order to operate my camera). |
