The Routeburn Track

This map (which I photographed from a Department of Conservation pamphlet) usefully illustrates the fact that the Routeburn Track is in the south-western corner of the South Island of New Zealand, in a region known as Fiordland. The north-eastern half of the track is in the Tititea / Mount Aspiring National Park, while the south-western part is in the Fiordland National Park. Because the Routeburn track is a long way from Wellington, Heather and I decided to make walking the track part of a wider South Island holiday.
