The Routeburn Track |
 After staying overnight in Queenstown, Joy, Keith, Heather, Evan, and I were up early on Monday, 30 December 1996. We caught a 7:30 am ‘Backpackers Express’ bus from Queenstown along the eastern shores of Lake Wakatipu to Glenorchy, and then on to the start of the Routeburn Track. During the bus trip, I took this picture looking up the northern arm of the lake. The snow-capped twin-peaked mountain at the right-hand edge of the photograph is Mr Earnslaw, 2,830 metres / 9,285 feet. |
