80 years in 80 photographs

1980
In what was – without a shadow of doubt – one of the most amazing experiences of my life, I was exceptionally fortunate to be able to spend four months (from mid-October 1979 till mid-February 1980) working in Antarctica as the Information Officer / Photographer for New Zealand’s Antarctic programme. In early February 1980 I was lucky enough to be able to visit the South Pole. The temperature while I was there was minus 40 degrees C (which is where the two main temperature scales meet and is thus also minus 40 degrees F).
