1996
I was an election-night commentator on radio from 1975 till 1984. In 1987, I switched loyalties, moved to television, and then commented for Television New Zealand on election night on eight successive occasions. This picture of Hugh Morton, a Massey University statistician (on the right), and me was taken shortly before the polls closed at 7:00 pm on Saturday, 12 October 1996 – the day that the first general election in New Zealand was held using the mixed member proportional (MMP) representation voting system. |
