Climbing Mt Bartle Frere, Queensland |
 We started the climb at 6:00 am. We left before daybreak (and were thus using our head torches) because we knew that covering the 15 kilometres (nine-and-a-third miles) from the car park to the summit of Mt Bartle Frere and back would probably take us between 10 and 12 hours, and – as Mt Bartle Frere is in the tropics – there are only about 12 hours of daylight on any given day. |
