Camino de Santiago

Day 11 (Monday, 4 October 2010) – Belorado to San Juan de Ortega (24.0 kms): This picture shows the country of origin of people on the Camino de Santiago. It should be noted that this graph, unlike the previous ones, is highly misleading, because it is based on data for those who get their compostelas (their certificates of completion) in Santiago, and to do so one has to walk only the final 100 kms of the Camino or cycle the last 200 kms. Although 54.2 percent of pilgrims may be from Spain, it’s worth noting that we came across hardly any Spaniards whatsoever while walking the first third of Spain’s Camino de Santiago.
