Climbing Clingmans Dome



A few minutes after leaving Cherokee, I entered the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I was surprised to learn that the park is – by far and away – the most popular national park in the United States. Its ten million visitors per annum are more than twice the number that visit the country’s second-most popular park, the Grand Canyon. Yosemite, Yellowstone, and the Rocky Mountain National Park are the third-, fourth-, and fifth-most popular national parks respectively.
