 This sign stands alongside the short path that leads to the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings about bears, I’d not seen one on Utah's King's Peak, on California’s Mt Whitney, or on North Carolina’s Mt Mitchell, and I wondered whether I’d at last get to see a bear while I was climbing a US state highpoint. |
