Climbing Clingmans Dome |
 I reached the top of the tower at 12:40 pm. It was the 34th US state highpoint I’d either climbed or visited. Clingmans Dome was named after Thomas Clingman, an Appalachian mountains explorer and, later, United States congressman and Confederate army general. |
