 We left Lutsen before noon on Friday, 12 November 2004, and drove roughly 24 miles (via roads called the Caribou Trail and the Grade) to the Eagle Mountain trailhead, where Evan filled in an application for a “self-issued permit” for the three of us to enter Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. |
