Climbing Granite Peak

An hour-and-a-quarter later, we still seemed no nearer the edge of plateau. Marc is on the left in this photo, and Jeff’s on the right. In my trip notes written at the time, I noted that it was a “hot, tiring, exhausting slog up and across Froze-to-Death Plateau.” However, we reached the campsite at the edge of the plateau (at the northern end of Tempest Peak) at 12:48 pm: it had taken us only just over three hours to hike four miles / six kilometres and gain 1,300 feet / 396 metres in height.
