Climbing Mt Hood



First attempt: Shortly after 5:15 am – in beautiful early morning light – I took this photograph of a young girl and her father about to pass me. They'd caught up with us because I was labouring my way far too slowly up the snow slopes. A running injury – a pulled calf muscle in my right leg – meant that I'd stopped training almost six weeks earlier, and as a result I was not nearly as fit as I should have been.
